Last Day in Glasgow

Last day in Glasgow. Exactly one year after the Independence Referendum. Lots of people on George Square remembering/celebrating this.
Just enough time to meet some friends over Fyne Ales, and for a last visit to BrewDog Glasgow

The Day After…

After waking up to some disappointing referendum results on Friday morning, we decided to visit the Kelvingrove again—this time not so close to closing time—giving us the opportunity to listen to the daily organ concert as well.
Friday was the day the new iPhone 6 launched, so both being Apple fans, we went to the Apple Store to see and feel it.
For dinner we selected another Glasgow classic: The Chippy Doon the Lane. Apparently you can batter and deep fry sausages as well…

George Square

On the menu for the evening was another visit to George Square — brilliant vibe there — and of course some burgers at Burger Meats Bun. No visit to Glasgow is complete without a burger from BMB!

Online course about the Scottish Independence Referendum

An online course titled Towards Scottish Independence? Understanding the Referendum started this week on FutureLearn.com, taught by The University of Edinburgh. It is a bit more reading and watching than I expected, but it’s really interesting.

The first live Question Hour was today — but you can still watch it — and there will be one every week for six weeks, answering questions from students posted on the site or on Twitter.

Did I mention it is free? 🙂 So don’t hesitate to still sign up, if you want to learn a bit more about the referendum than what the newspapers say!

View on Glasgow

View from the necropolis! Simply stunning! #loveglasgow #cathedral #visitscotland #brilliantmoments by girlwhowished http://ift.tt/1uKHuK9 August 12, 2014 at 04:11PM

In a little under a month I’ll be in glorious Glasgow again! I actually haven’t been to the Necropolis yet my previous trips, so that most certainly is on our to-do list this time.

Our Megabus buses are booked, as is our hotel room — unfortunately Euro Hostels was already full this time — so all we have to to is pack and go.

Although I still have to find a nice venue to watch the results of the Scottish Independence Referendum come in, I’m sure I’ll get that sorted well in time!
