I felt like chicken tonight—not the sauce popular in the nineties—so I went to Die Henne, where they basically serve one dish: half a crispy fried chicken. Just add some Kartoffelsalat, and that’s a meal!
Tonight’s bars were HOME Bar, and the best place to end the night—at least that’s what I’ve been told—Protokoll. There I met up with friends I already knew, and friends I had just met, and I stayed there until half past three…

Fourth day in Berlin. Mainly recovering from the third day (breakfast at Cô Côwas helpful, as was our dinner at Altes Europa), but also check off some more bars from our list (Stone Brewing Tap Room & Mikkeller), and say our goodbyes to BrewDog Berlin Mitte.
It seems I somehow never posted anything about my Köln trip. So when I found out about this a couple of years later, I decided to delve into my photo archive, and publish at least a couple of photos of that trip!
Most of my trips revolve around craft beer, or at least include some beer bars or breweries. Köln is a bit different: very traditional, and the city only had one craft beer bar when we visited… What the city did have, and stil has, is Kölsch! So of course, on the evening of our arrival, we went to one of the best places to drink it: Brauhaus Päffgen!
The second day we started in the Wallraf-Richartz Museum.
After Himmel un Äd for lunch at Peters Brauhaus, and a visit to the Römisch-Germanisches Museum (no photos), we visited the only craft beer bar in Köln: Crafbeer Corner Coeln. We enjoyed dinner—Kotelett mit Kartoffelsalat—at Lommerzheim.
On the last day, we had some Currywurst for lunch, and after some more sightseeing, a beer at the Gaffel am Dom. We ended our trip with some Bratwurst mit Kartoffelsalat at Max Stark.
Lunch at Herman Ze German, to prepare us for another beer-filled afternoon. We went to Partizan Brewing on the Bermondsey Beer Mile, then headed north for the Beavertown brewery.
Nearby we planned to go to a meet-the-brewer event for just a couple of beers, but we ended up going full-on hipster by tasting a few more at Affinity Brew’s tiny container brewery!
Today’s dinner: fish ‘n’ chips at Poppies.
The last museum of our trip was the Museum für Kommunikation.
We then headed south, to the sparkling new Stone brewery. There were no tours of the brewery itself yet, but the “Bistro & Gardens” certainly are impressive already! The garden and indoor space for drinking and dining are huge, and they have fifty beers on draught, most of them brewed there or in the original American Stone brewery.
For dinner we had the über-German fast food: Currywurst.
