Na Fir Bolg – part 2

Just spent a great weekend at the music festival Na Fir Bolg. As expected I wasn’t the only one in a kilt, although some of the garments that would probably identified by their wearers as a kilt, would not really qualify as such by a strict definition…

There were quite a few bagpipes on stage as well: Corvus Corax, Berlinski Beat, The Black Tartan Clan and Kadril all used them.

Oh, the drink / bottle holder turned out to be quite useful, although most of the time it was easier than I expected to find a spot at a table.

Last Day in Glasgow

My last day in Glasgow I did a final -failed – attempt to find a nice kilt jacket, a last visit to the BrewDog bar to do some essential shopping. Not quite recovered yet from the ceilidh of the night before, I decided to skip the one of Saturday night, and join my new Glaswegian friends on a little pub crawl instead. And for once, I wasn’t the only one wearing a kilt! 🙂

Colosseum

Na eerst nog een vluchtige maar goed toegelichte blik op het Forum Romanum, was er in de namiddag dan toch plaats voor ons groepje in het Colosseum. Na dit bezoek ging een dapper deel nog een kerk en een bevrijdingsmuseum bezoeken, anderen vonden het tijd om enkele inkopen te doen en een keer op tijd naar het hotel te gaan.
Hoewel ik weinig behoefte had aan inkopen en slaap, verkoos ik toch deze groep te vervoegen tot aan het diner. Daarna trok ik in mijn eentje nog eens naar Open Baladin om mijn zythologische kennis van Italië nog een beetje uit te breiden.
Op de terugweg bleek duidelijk dat ook voor Italianen de vrijdagavond een uitgaansavond is, maar toch op een andere manier dan in België. Denk aan De Noordzee en het Sint-Katelijneplein op een zonnige zaterdagmiddag, maar dan zonder de vis, en een iets lagere gemiddelde leeftijd!
