Köln Trip

It seems I somehow never posted anything about my Köln trip. So when I found out about this a couple of years later, I decided to delve into my photo archive, and publish at least a couple of photos of that trip!

Most of my trips revolve around craft beer, or at least include some beer bars or breweries. Köln is a bit different: very traditional, and the city only had one craft beer bar when we visited… What the city did have, and stil has, is Kölsch! So of course, on the evening of our arrival, we went to one of the best places to drink it: Brauhaus Päffgen!

The second day we started in the Wallraf-Richartz Museum⁩.

After Himmel un Äd for lunch at Peters Brauhaus, and a visit to the Römisch-Germanisches Museum (no photos), we visited the only craft beer bar in Köln: Crafbeer Corner Coeln.
We enjoyed dinner—Kotelett mit Kartoffelsalat—at Lommerzheim.

On the last day, we had some Currywurst for lunch, and after some more sightseeing, a beer at the Gaffel am Dom. We ended our trip with some Bratwurst mit Kartoffelsalat at Max Stark.

Clans’ Remembrance, Ypres

Participated in the Scottish clans’ remembrance ceremony in Ypres again this year (7/10/2017), proudly showing my scouting connection to the clan MacLaren. Didn’t find any good shots of the ceremony itself, unfortunately, but at least we have a nice Belgian MacLaren group photo.

Changeover in London

As we often do, we enjoyed our last British drinks — and a burger — at BrewDog Camden.
The Eurostar terminal was even more crowded than usual this time, and like on our way here, they’ve changed our seats last minute. ? Oh well, it’s only a short ride, and we’ll be home soon.

Cardiff – Day 5

Last day in Cardiff, so it was time to pack our bag and check out. We didn’t have anything planned anymore, so we had a leisurely breakfast at The Plan Cafe, a last coffee at The Little Man Coffee Co., and — since BrewDog Cardiff apparently only opens at 4 pm on Mondays — a couple of beers at smallBAR, which we both agreed on probably is the best bar in Cardiff!
The train arrived with a small delay, but we expect to arrive in London on time. Fingers crossed!

Cardiff – Day 4

Our last full day in Cardiff started in museums again. First we visited the National Museum, then — after coffee at Uncommon Ground The Cardiff Story. In the afternoon we finally made it to the Tiny Rebel bar, and the weather even allowed us to sit on the terrace! Our last dinner was at the Cosy Club, where it was a whole lot quieter than last time we tried to get in.
