A day with nothing planned, and a special offer from Eurostar, that can only mean one thing: day trip to London! By sheer coincidence, there was a beer festival on the day I visited, so all of a sudden, that became my main destination.
First things first though, coffee! My choice of the day was Dose Espresso, serving coffee by Square Mile Coffee Roasters.

Since my last visit to London, BrewDog Camden had unfortunately closed… So, one of the nearest BrewDog bars now is BrewDog Clerkenwell, and as it happened, their special Staff Hack burger was one of the more interesting ones in London: the Tower Burger, a toasted burger bun with a buttermilk fried chicken thighs, shredded baby gem, ranch mayo, cheddar cheese, bacon, and a hash brown.
Of course there were some beers on draught that are unlikely to make it to Brussels anytime soon, so I made sure to try all of them as well.

From there it was onto the south of London, to Bird House Brewery, where the London Brewers Alliance Beer Festival would be taking place. It was surely an interesting concept, since the entrance ticket already included a pint glass and four half pints, for a price that hardly covered the value of those four beers…

After discovering a couple of new—for me—breweries, it was unfortunately time to head back home. Through some weird ‘bid to upgrade’ scheme, I was fortunate enough to travel back to Brussels with Eurostar Plus, so I could enjoy a light meal and a solo seat on my train. But inevitably, that also meant the end of my trip…

Don’t despair though, there will be more train shenanigans in about a month!
